Bangladesh opposition editor Mahmudur Rahman released

After three and a half years, acting editor of the renowned Bengali daily Amar Desh Mahmudur Rahman was freed on bail on Wednesday.

News Editor Zahed Chowdhury confirmed that Mahmudur Rahman was released at around 1:00pm Wednesday. 

Mahmudur Rahman a former energy adviser of BNP-Jamaat government, has been incarcerated in connection with other cases, since he was arrested from his Karwan Bazar office on 11 April 2013.

Mahmudur Rahman was implicated with over 70 lawsuits including one filed over plots to abduct and kill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
