The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Sunday called for a countrywide demonstration programme on Monday. BNP call for the protest against the authorities’ denial to allow it holding 7 November rally in the capital city.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP secretary general, declared the programme at a press briefing at the party’s Naya Paltan central office, reports UNB news agency. He said BNP will stage demonstration and rally at every thana of the city.
Besides, the BNP secretary general said, the programme will be observed at every district town and divisional headquarters on the same day.
BNP had the plan to hold a rally at Suhrawardy Uddan today marking November 7 as the 'National Revolution and Solidarity Day'.
However, the police authorities and the Public Works Department did not allow the party to arrange the rally.
The party had also sought permission to arrange the rally at Suhrawardy Udyan either on 7 or 8 November, but the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) denied on security ground.
