To ensure a fair and acceptable general election, a neutral election-time government is a must along with a strong election commission (EC), said BNP senior leader Nazrul Islam Khan on Monday 26th December – reports news agency UNB.
Labour party, a branch of the BNP led 20-party alliance organized a discussion at Shishu Kalyan Parishad auditorium, where Nazrul put this remark.
Nazrul added that after the formation of EC, his party will give a proposal on the framework of an election-time government.
He much appreciated the steps taken by the president for arranging talks with different political parties on the formation of strong EC. He added saying that during the discussion with the president, they focused based on their chairperson’s proposal on the EC constitution.
He also said their party will admit if any party gives better suggestions than their chairperson’s to form a better commission.
The BNP leader said though Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) election was apparently fair, people have some questions and confusion about it, and the election commission should take steps to remove those.
